Mihaela Vlad

Mihaela Vlad is ESR in ITEE. Her work is focused on finding an optimum value of additive concentration for coated steel elements from the point of view of scuffing and investigation of interactions between lubricants and coated elements for heavy-loaded a-C:H:W coated steel machine parts using model tests. For explanation of anti-scuffing action mechanisms of the used additives She is investigating the worn surfaces using Scanning Electron Microscopy / Energy Dispersive Spectrometry (SEM/EDS), Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM), Glow Discharge Optical Emission Spectrometry (GDOES) and X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS). Basing on tribological results and surface analytical data obtained interaction mechanisms between lubricants and/or lubricant components for coated elements will be proposed.
